The Fourth of July is a time for fireworks, parades, barbecues, and a little red, white, and blue. But, the holiday wouldn’t be complete without some street closures and parking restrictions to make room for all of the festivities.

The City of Boston is strongly encouraging those who decide to partake in the city’s July 4th activities, such as the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular, to refrain from using personal vehicles. The city’s transportation department recommends taking advantage of Blue Bikes, the regional bike-share service, riding the MBTA (be sure to check the adjusted schedule here), or simply walking to get around during the holiday.
