When the pandemic shut everything down in March 2020, it was an isolating time. So, I dove into reading as an escape — books about travel all over the world and cookbooks to inspire me to keep baking and stay creative. As I read more, I looked into stepping out of my comfort zone and looked into the Boston Public Library’s (BPL) Summer Reading challenge.

That is where I read about many inspiring voices from different backgrounds which have helped me gain new perspectives that I never would have known about without the BPL’s great librarian suggestions. The BPL provides this and much more, free to all, and I know it’s providing the same support to so many others. Running Boston for the first time is my way of giving back to our amazing library and helping the library continue to provide important services for everyone in the community.
