As the oldest marathon in American history, the Boston Marathon is full of unforgettable moments. You may even think you know a lot about the historic race.
The Boston Marathon typically draws crowds of 500,000 spectators, so it’s safe to say Marathon Monday is a pretty big deal.
“An April Boston Marathon has been a spring tradition for well over a century,” Boston Athletics Association spokesperson Chris Lotsbom told Boston.com in October.
The last couple of marathons made history for taking place during the height of the pandemic, first by going virtual, then by taking place in October instead of Patriots’ Day. Now, the race is back for a traditional Marathon Monday on April 18. You can follow along with coverage of the race leading up to and during the marathon on Boston.com.
