Name: Chris Betschart
This GoFundMe is for my mother, Annie, who is a beloved member of the small community of Hopedale, Mass. She was a dedicated employee at Hopedale Junior Senior High School, serving in multiple roles and touching the lives of countless students and faculty over the years.
A diagnosis of multiple sclerosis has drastically changed her life. Annie was forced to leave the job that she loved. On top of cerebral palsy, Annie has risen to many challenges since her MS diagnosis many years ago. The disease has continued to take from her with her mobility being the most dramatic. Annie is now living daily life in a motorized wheelchair and is extremely lucky to be surrounded by so many loving family members and friends.
Her current limitations for transportation have severely impacted her daily life such as getting to medical appointments, participating in family events, and just simply taking care of her own needs. Her wheelchair is unable to be loaded into any vehicle but a specialized wheelchair-accessible van, leaving her to spend many days in isolation.
This GoFundMe will give Annie the opportunity to purchase an accessible van that will give her back her freedom and bring some joy back into her life. Any help would be a blessing by making this more of a realistic goal for someone whose disease diagnosis has taken so much from her.
