It’s National Love Your Pet Day. Share a photo of your furry friends with us

What makes your pet special?

There are potential physical, mental, and emotional health benefits for people who own pets. With all of the benefits, it wouldn’t be surprising if doctors one day began prescribing pets. Until then, here are some reasons why you may want to consider calling a furry friend your own.

Happy National Love Your Pet Day! Be they furry, scaley, or feathery, around half the households in Massachusetts have a pet to give a little extra love to today. We want to see them!

Do you have a rambunctious puppy with adorable floppy ears? A normally standoffish cat that melts for belly rubs? Or does your taste in pets lean less traditional – a chatty parrot, a school of tropical fish, or an especially affectionate hamster? Send us a photo of your pet, name, age, and breed, and a few lines about why you love them to madelaine.millar@globe.com and we may feature Fido in an upcoming Boston.com article.
