Ahead of the arrival of one of Broadway’s most popular shows, Autism Speaks has partnered with Broadway in Boston and Disney Theatrical Productions to present an autism-friendly performance of “The Lion King’’ on Oct. 11.
The special presentation of “The Lion King,’’ which runs Sept. 9 to Oct. 12 at the Boston Opera House, will include “slight adjustments to the production to suit the needs of the audience—such as the reduction of any jarring sounds or strobe lights focused on the audience,’’ according to a statement.
There will also be a quiet area for families or individuals who need a break from the show. Trained staff and volunteers will be on hand to assist theatre-goers throughout the performance.
The Tony Award-winning stage production of Disney’s animated film features a savannah full of animals brought to life by more than 40 actors.
