On the third anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings, a massive “Boston Strong” banner was hung at the Boston Harbor Hotel arch on Friday.
The Boston Harbor Hotel, which is located in Boston’s Rowes Wharf, has been hanging the banner for two years now, according to Heather Greenbaum, the hotel’s Director of Public Relations.
“It came about the year after the bombings took place. Honor for the city,” she said. “We thought, ‘[the arch] is such an iconic place to hang something,’ so we’ve been doing it ever since.”
Greenbaum noted that the response to the banner, which features the seminal blue-and-white Boston Strong design, is positive, and that it gains significant traction online each year. Dozens of users posted the photo to Instagram and Twitter on April 15, using the hashtags #BostonStrong and #OneBostonDay to commemorate the occasion.
The 120th Boston Marathon will take place on Monday, April 18, 2016.
