Maura Tierney had a close call Monday, one that will sound sadly familiar to biking enthusiasts everywhere.
The Hyde Park native and star of Showtime’s “The Affair,’’ Tierney was riding her bike in Los Angeles on Monday when a car reportedly clipped her back tire, which sent her hurling to the ground.
Photos from the scene didn’t look so good. The actress, 53, was helped out of the street by passersby and then sank down onto the curb to await ETMs. They slid a neckbrace onto the actress and sped her to the hospital.
Luckily, Tierney — whose late father, Joe Tierney, was a longtime Boston City Councilor — suffered no major injuries, according to People.
“The Affair,’’ just renewed this summer for its fifth season, also stars Dominic West, Ruth Wilson, and Joshua Jackson. Tierney won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for the show in 2016.
