Hamilton’’ continues performances at the Boston Opera House through mid-November — but come Oct. 26, Boston will make way for another (former) Aaron Burr.

Leslie Odom Jr., who played Hamilton’s foe in the original Broadway production, will speak and perform at “In It Together,’’ an annual dinner hosted by Action for Boston Community Development honoring local volunteers and community leaders.

Shayna Seymour, cohost of WCVB’s “Chronicle,’’ will emcee the event at the Boston Marriott Copley Place hotel. Rev. Liz Walker, a pastor at Roxbury Presbyterian Church, will say the invocation.

ABCD president and CEO John Drew says the organization asked Odom because the Grammy- and Tony award-winning performer understood ABCD’s mission. The organization aims “to empower disadvantaged people by providing them with the tools to overcome poverty, live with dignity, and achieve their full potential,’’ according to assistant director of communications Colneth Smiley.

“We really needed and wanted to have a very good entertainer,’’ Drew said, noting the significance of Odom’s plans to perform and also to share stories “about his own life and how he keeps things positive.’’

ABCD will honor former Celtics head coach Doc Rivers with an induction into the organization’s Hall of Fame. Rivers, now head coach of the LA Clippers, cofounded Hoop Dreams, a basketball tournament fund-raiser supporting some of ABCD’s youth services.

Chaplain Clementina M. Chery, cofounder, president, and CEO of the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute, is slated to receive the lifetime achievement award, and Samuel Nagler, of counsel for Krokidas & Bluestein LLP, is the evening’s special honoree.

Individual tickets for the event are $300 and can be purchased at bostonabcd.org
