Cambridge-raised actress and new mom Mindy Kaling took to social media on Monday to share some of her favorite board books. In a series of Instagram stories, she said she reads her daughter, Katherine, three to five titles a day.
“As a parent, you read so many of these board books that you can tell the good ones from the bad ones,” Kaling said.
“I think she really likes the illustrations, which are incredibly friendly,” she said. “And even though they’re simple, they have so much emotion.”
Kaling’s posts also featured “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See,” “Peek-A-Baby,” and Dr. Seuss’s “There’s a Wocket in My Pocket.” She revealed that she had a good head start on titles, as Oprah Winfrey gave her a bookshelf of baby books, but recommended that those looking to discover more books turn to suggestions on Amazon.
Kaling told her followers to tag her with more recommendations, though she already knows what her daughter’s favorite will be once she graduates to classic paper books.
“Obviously, when she gets older her favorite book will be ‘The Book with No Pictures’ written by B.J. Novak,” she said. “An iconic classic children’s book, except that it’s not a board book.”
