Maria Menounos had some positive news to share with the world on Mother’s Day.
The TV personality and Medford native posted a photo of herself and her mother, Litsa Menounos, on Instagram on Sunday, writing that almost three years after Litsa was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer, the mass in her head is stable.
“Happy Mother’s Day to my beautiful mama!” Maria wrote in the Instagram caption. “Little update-she continues to get amazing mri’s and her brain tumor if that’s what’s even left (could be scar tissue) is stable. Lots of work to get here but so grateful to god for giving me and my family another Mother’s Day to celebrate her! Thank you to all who have prayed for her along the way! It’s working! Coming up on 3 years with glioblastoma later this summer. ”
While her Mother’s Day post was a positive one, things haven’t been easy for Maria, who had her own golf ball-sized brain tumor removed almost two years ago. According to the Boston Herald, Maria posted a tearful video to her Instagram story last month in which she said that her mother had suffered a lot of damage cognitively, and that “sometimes she doesn’t know what’s going on, she can’t remember things, she’ll do crazy things sometimes.”
