Chris Evans knows a little something about Instagram-related faux pas. So when “Truth Hurts” singer Lizzo admitted to sending the Sudbury native an alcohol-fueled direct message on Instagram, Evans was more than happy to laugh it off.
In a video posted to TikTok, Lizzo showed her 14.7 million followers an emoji-filled message she sent to Evans, along with the caption “Don’t drink and DM, kids….” (For those who aren’t fluent in emojis, Lizzo’s message translates to “shooting your shot,” i.e. letting someone know you’re interested in them romantically.)
In the video, Lizzo also shared a lip-synced message directed at Evans, calling the actor “a rare breed.”
“The reason I’m upset about this one is because I know I’m not going to be able to marry him, and honestly, it hurts me to the core,” Lizzo lip-syncs. “Because damn, papa, he a rare breed, no comparing. Like Chris…”
Don’t drink and DM, kids…. for legal porpoises this is a joke
One day later, Lizzo shared another video on TikTok, this time showing that Evans had followed her on Instagram and responded to her message.
“No shame in a drunk DM,” the message from Evans reads. “God knows I’ve done worse on this app lol.”
While Evans didn’t specify what he meant, the message almost certainly refers to when the actor accidentally posted and then quickly deleted a video that featured a nude photo in September 2020.
“It was an interesting weekend full of lessons learned, a lot of teachable moments,” Evans told talk show host Tamron Hall. “It’s embarrassing, but you gotta roll with the punches. I have fantastic fans who came to my support.”
