September/October 2015 Cover!

Renovations, renewals, revivals, restorations — they all thrive in our September/October 2015 issue, online and on newsstands next week. On our cover, an antique table discovered by architect Ramsay Gourd is the finishing touch in the front hall of a historic house he redesigned in Manchester, Vermont. The 4,100-square-foot house, originally built sometime between 1799 and 1820, was a major fixer-upper, but, with Greg Premru’s photography as proof, it now stands proud again on Main Street. In Newport, Rhode Island, it took one historically minded benefactor, a team of landscape professionals, and an updated plant list to restore the Olmsted Brothers’ famous 1913 Blue Garden to glory. (An online video delivers you right to the site.) We also venture inside a Modern home in Maine, a renovated loft in Boston, two preserved Pittsfield, Massachusetts, buildings that are now home to Hotel on North, and a renovated barn that was quickly turned into a family friendly home in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
