Steven Tyler has teamed up with Skittles to star in the brand’s 2016 Super Bowl commercial.
In the ad, Tyler comes face-to-face with a portrait of himself made entirely of Skittles. Said portrait can talk, so Tyler challenges it to hit the high note he sings in Aerosmith’s famous tune, “Dream On.’’ Hilarity ensues.
This is the first time that a celebrity has been featured in one of Skittles’s “Taste the Rainbow’’ commercials. The commercial’s tagline has been adjusted to suit the ad: “Rock the Rainbow’’ is the slogan that runs at the end of Tyler’s 30-second spot, along with the hashtag #SkittlesArt.
Last year, 114.4 million people watched the Super Bowl, making it the most-watched television program in history, according to NBC. So it’s safe to say that Tyler’s duel with his Skittle-self was seen by many.
