Revere’s own Necco is celebrating the 150th anniversary of its Valentine’s Day classic, Sweethearts, and is teaming up with local ad agency Hill Holiday to get the word out. Two of their newest spokesmen? Jack and George, a Texas couple who have been “sweethearts’’ for 55 years.

In a new web ad, Jack and George recount stories from their lives together, including their feelings when the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage nationwide last summer. The couple wed shortly afterward.

The ad is one of many in the new campaign, which invites couples to share their own sweet stories for a chance to win $5,000.

“Our communities are becoming bigger and more connected,’’ Necco CEO Michael McGee told AdWeek. “For a brand, that means traditional, one-sided communication is not enough. You have to find ways to help consumers participate with your brand and have your conversation become interactive.’’

The local candy company often thrives around Valentine’s Day without any large advertising campaigns, but with the help of this video, as well as the story of the strong friendship between an abandoned dog and a boy with autism, the brand is finding its voice online. It’s a first for Necco, and for Jack and George, who will celebrate Valentine’s Day this year for the first time as a legally married couple.
