Jimmy Kimmel plans to host the Oscars as if no one who’s watching at home is familiar with his late-night show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which means he will include very few references to its recurring segments. One of the few exceptions to that rule? His ongoing “feud” with Matt Damon.

“He’s my archenemy, really,” Kimmel said of the Cambridge native in an interview with Good Morning America that aired Wednesday morning. “I mean, if the Joker and the Batman were face-to-face, there would be some kind of a standoff. And I would imagine that that will be the same for this.”

Damon is one of the producers of Manchester by the Sea, which is up for six awards, including Best Actor for Casey Affleck, also a Cantabrigian.

“Are you legitimately rooting against him?” GMA correspondent TJ Holmes asked Kimmel. “You want his film to lose?”

“I don’t want the film to lose; I want him to lose,” Kimmel replied.

“But it’s his film,” Holmes said.

“However you want to look at it, I would like him to go home with nothing,” Kimmel concluded.
