This photo of the Oscars audience reacting to the Best Picture mishap is absolutely incredible

The most outrageous moment in Academy Awards history, as told by the faces of Hollywood's A-list.

In one of the strangest scenes in Oscars history, veteran actress Faye Dunaway, alongside Bonnie and Clyde costar Warren Beatty, mistakenly announced that La La Land had won the award for Best Picture before Oscars officials hustled toward the podium minutes later to let everyone know that Moonlight was the actual winner of the night’s biggest award.

The moment when La La Land producer Jordan Horowitz grabbed the correct slip of paper bearing Moonlight‘s name and held it up to the camera was unlike anything that has happened in 89 years of Academy Awards ceremonies.

Naturally, the audience at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, was as shocked as audiences at home, leading to this incredible photo taken by Al Seib of the Los Angeles Times:

Just look at those expressions. Meryl Streep? Bewildered. Matt Damon? Flabbergasted. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson? Puzzled, with a dash of concerned thrown in for good measure.

The mixture of shock, confusion, and amazement on the faces of a roomful of stars perfectly captured the emotions of the unprecedented moment.
