John Oliver doesn’t have all the answers about what the U.S. should do about Syria. But he does have some concerns about what President Donald Trump’s decision to attack a Syrian air base could mean in the future.
On Sunday night’s episode of Last Week Tonight, before launching into a lengthy segment on gerrymandering, the host took a few minutes to address Trump’s response to gruesome chemical weapon attacks that left hundreds of Syrian civilians dead or wounded.
Trump’s missile strikes earned him praise from Democrats, Republicans, and media commentators. According to Oliver, that could end up being a big problem.
“Right now, we have a president who feeds off praise,” Oliver said. “And he just got a lot of it for bombing someone. And that should make everyone very, very worried.”
