Bill Belichick doesn’t usually enjoy press conferences. Then again, members of the media don’t usually present the coach with a sleeveless poncho.
During the high-profile circus that is Super Bowl media week, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel sent sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez to a number of press conferences, including one hosted by the taciturn Patriots coach.
Rodriguez elicited a rare laugh from Belichick with a lame joke (“What did the wide receiver tell the football? I’ll catch you later.”), and also gave the coach a sleeveless poncho with Belichick’s face on the front and his own face on the back.
Belichick smiled before promising Rodriguez he would wear the poncho someday.
“I’ll send you a picture of it on Snapface,” Belichick said. “You can put it out there.”
The Hoodie wasn’t the only person to receive a “handmade” gift featuring Rodriguez. Rams quarterback Jared Goff got a T-shirt, while Patriots quarterback Tom Brady got a throw pillow with his face on it.
“Every night I’ll put my head [on] that pillow,” Rodriguez said.
“That makes me feel so warm inside,” Brady replied. “Thank you.”
