Netflix released the first trailer for “Knock Down the House,’’ the political documentary following four progressive female congressional candidates during the 2018 election cycle, on Monday.
The film features the campaigns of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Cori Bush, Paula Jean Swearengin, and Amy Vilela; from New York, Missouri, West Virginia, and Nevada, respectively.
Ocasio-Cortez’s run for New York’s 14th District seat against Joe Crowley, a 20-year incumbent Democratic representative, is the film’s focus. She was the only candidate who was elected, but all four candidates’ stories are featured.
“Americans aren’t asking for a lot,’’ Ocasio-Cortez says at the beginning of the trailer. “They’re just asking for politicians to help them get by.’’
“Knock Down the House’’ premieres on Netflix May 1.
