‘SNL’: Beyoncé takes heat in ‘Hot Ones’ sketch

“I still can’t tell if this beneath me, but my sister Solange loves this show, so I said I’d do it,” said Maya Rudolph as Beyoncé.

On “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, former cast member and host Maya Rudolph reprised one of her most beloved roles, and got into character as celebrity royalty Beyoncé Knowles-Carter once again. Rudolph as Beyoncé joined Sean Evans (Mikey Day) to spoof the show “Hot Ones” where guests eat increasingly hot wings while answering spicy questions.

“I still can’t tell if this beneath me, but my sister Solange loves this show, so I said I’d do it,” says Rudolph. The host offers Beyoncé a mild wing to start, but being from Texas, she insists she can handle a hotter wing saying, “This girl can handle her wings.”

It becomes clear very soon that Rudolph’s Beyoncé cannot, in fact, handle her wings. Visibly sweating and having trouble speaking, she struggles to answer the interview questions. Evans (Day) offers her ice water and milk to help with the heat and she replies, “I’m not gonna drink a big fat glass of milk on camera. That’s not a good look for ‘Yonce.”

At one point Rudolph’s Beyoncé calls over her stylist, played by Kenan Thompson, to remove her wig and place ice cubes underneath it. She eventually caves and reaches for the room temp glass of milk after exclaiming, “I’m sweating! Beyoncé’s head is wet! This wing is wrecking me.”

After learning there are six more sauces to get through, Rudolph storms off the set, and her agent (Alex Moffat) steps in telling everyone to erase the footage and sign an NDA as if it never happened. Watch the full sketch below.
