When it comes to his new HBO Max show, Mark Wahlberg is all business.
On Monday, HBO released the first trailer for “Wahl Street,” an upcoming documentary series about the Dorchester native and his many business ventures.
The series, which began production in December 2019, will be available on the company’s HBO Max streaming platform on April 15. According to a show synopsis, viewers can expect to learn “powerful business and life lessons as [Wahlberg] navigates the numerous challenges of a global pandemic, all while trying to maintain and expand his vast portfolio.”
Over the course of its six episodes, viewers will get to see Wahlberg balance his time between several of his companies, including his gym studio (Municipal), restaurant chain (Wahlburgers), and production company (Unrealistic Ideas).
“It’s fantastic to be able to make a living making movies and acting,” Wahlberg says in the trailer. “But I think it’s important to really have a career where you can do different things and not be put into a box.”
The show description also makes reference to HBO’s former hit series “Entourage,” which was executive produced by Wahlberg and partly inspired by his life. In “Wahl Street,” viewers will meet the “colorful characters” that make up Marky Mark’s real-life entourage.
“You know why this show’s gonna be such a hit?” Wahlberg says in the trailer. “Because it’s a f****** s***show.”
