Berklee student Grace Kinstler dazzles with ‘Frozen II’ song for Disney Week on ‘American Idol’

One person will get the opportunity to win “American Idol” in a few weeks, and Berklee College of Music student Grace Kinstler isn’t going to let it go.
The 10 finalists sang tunes from the Disney songbook in Sunday’s episode, the first after a two-week break. Viewers coast to coast voted on their favorites in real time, and the audience sent Kinstler and six others forward in the competition.
Before the performances, the finalists prepped with celebrity mentor John Stamos.
“What am I going to tell you? Nothing! Just do that,” Stamos told Kinstler after she demoed her singing for him.
Wearing a sparkling blue and white dress, Kinstler echoed Elsa as she belted “Into the Unknown” from “Frozen II” on a glittering stage. She dazzled the judges as usual.
“Oh my goddess!” exclaimed Katy Perry, who was dressed as Tinkerbell from “Peter Pan.” “It was like you had a magic wand in your voice!”
“You walked to the mic with a look in your eyes, like ‘I’m about to slay this,’ and there was never any doubt. I mean, you had the eye of the tiger, and you went beyond all of that,” Luke Bryan said.
“I think John Stamos said it best,” Lionel Richie added. “Just do that. Just do that. That’s all you have to do.”
Kinstler, who closed out the show, is considered a favorite to win, with Willie Spence and Casey Bishop seen as her main competition.
All three were voted by viewers to move on alongside Arthur Gunn, Caleb Kennedy, Chayce Beckham, and Hunter Metts. Alyssa Wray, Cassandra Coleman, and Deshawn Goncalves were sent home.
Gunn was the runner-up in the previous season of “Idol,” which was derailed by the coronavirus pandemic, forcing contestants to sing remotely at home. He was brought back this week as the winner of the April 19 “Comeback” episode.
The top seven contestants will compete next Sunday night in an episode with a Mother’s Day theme.
