On Thursday, Sony Pictures Classic released the first trailer for “Julia,” an upcoming documentary about culinary icon and longtime Cambridge resident Julia Child.

Directed by Betsy West and Julie Cohen — the duo behind the 2018 Ruth Bader Ginsberg documentary “RBG” — the documentary uses previously unseen archival footage of Child, as well as interviews from modern-day celebrity chefs who followed in Child’s footsteps like Jose Andrés and Marcus Samuelsson.

“Julia” is unrelated to the upcoming HBO Max series of the same name, which is currently filming in Massachusetts through at least September. The show will star Sarah Lancashire (“Happy Valley”) as Child, David Hyde Pierce (“Frasier”) as her husband, Paul, and will also feature Brittany Bradford (“Bernhardt/Hamlet”), Fran Kranz (“Homecoming”), Fiona Glascott (“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald”), Bebe Neuwirth (“Madam Secretary”), Isabella Rossellini (“Silent Retreat”), and Jefferson Mays (“I Am the Night”).

As of now, neither “Julia” the documentary nor “Julia” the HBO Max series have announced release dates.
