Tim Gunn participated in a reality TV roundtable for The Hollywood Reporter where he revealed that he would like to do a season of “Project Runway’’ featuring only plus-size models. When asked, “What reality show have you not done but wish you could?’’ The longtime “make it work’’ mentor replied, “I would like to do a season of Project Runway where every model is larger than a size 12.’’

The Lifetime reality series wrapped its 12th season in October and the 60-year-old hosted his own aspiring designer competition with the debut of “Project Runway: Under the Gunn’’ in January. (Fun fact: Newton native Sam Donovan finished second on the series.)

Whether Gunn’s wish will come true is up for debate, but the longtime icon has spoken out on the lack of size diversity in the industry. In a 2013 interview with the Huffington Post, Gunn said, “When I’m working in the real world with real women and we’re shopping, we find that fashion seems to end when you get any larger than a size 12. How ridiculous is that?’’

Gunn was very vocal in his disgust on the issue, saying, “… there are two markets: The women who are larger than the 12, and then there are women who are petite. And most designers that I talk to have absolutely no interest in addressing either of those populations, which I find repugnant.’’
