Brooks Nantucket-inspired running shoes for Boston Marathon 2016

We’re getting closer to the Boston Marathon on April 18, and in anticipation of both the elite running event and the upcoming warmer weather, Brooks Running has released a sneak peak of their 2016 Boston-edition sneaker.

This year’s shoe is a Nantucket version of their Adrenaline GTS 16, inspired by summers on the Cape and the coastal culture of New Englanders.

Set to be released on Friday, both the men and women’s versions feature bright blue and red madras patterns, along with a lobster on the shoelace lock, a sailboard and whale on the heel, and an anchor on the sockliner. You can get them online, at the Brooks Running Booth at the marathon expo, and at specialty running stores in Boston for $130.

“Summers on the Cape represent a festive time for the region,” said Shane Downey, Brooks Running Company’s global director, in a statement. “We’ve brought this spirit of all-American revelry to life through the use of a red, white, and blue plaid pattern that adorns the show and nautical details inspired by the eastern seaboard.”

This is Brooks’s second limited-edition shoe released to celebrate the Boston Marathon. Last year, the company reimagined their Launch-style shoe, giving it an all-over lobstah pattern.

According to Marathon Sports’s website, the Adrenaline sneaks manage moisture to keep your feet cool and dry while running and feature a full-length crash pad, which provides extra cushion and smooth heel-to-toe transitions.
