2014 Miss Massachusetts United States winners crowned

The 2014 Miss Massachusetts United States competition was held at the Revere Hotel’s Theatre 1 on March 30. See which Bay State beauties took home crowns and other moments from this year’s pageant.

Miss United States introduced the panel of five judges individually. Among the group was former Baywatch star Traci Bingham (pictured), model and designer Amber Lu, CEO of Synergy Events Reaz Hogue, founder and president of Styleweek Rosanna Sinel Ortiz, and pageant expert and East Boston native Rocky Graziano.

Miss Massachusetts contestant, Renata de Carvahlo during the on-stage question portion of the competition. Each competitor had 30 seconds to answer a question on anything from personal life to politics.

Dillard asked Ms. Massachusetts contestant, Alicia Watkins, her on-stage question: what is your modern definition of family? Her answer? “Where your heart is and those who lift you up.’’ She received a standing ovation.

Moments before crowning the new winners, Julianna Smith took her final walk as Miss Massachusetts United States 2013. A Teen, Miss, and Ms. winner was crowned.

Nicole Spiller was the first runner up for Miss Massachusetts Teen. The first runner-up for each category takes over for the winner if at any time she cannot fulfill her duties.

Nina Murray took home the crown for Miss Massachusetts Teen United States.

Cyndal Todd recieved first runner-up in the Ms. category.

Tears and all, Alicia Watkins excitedly accepted the crown as the new Ms. Massachusetts United States.

First runner-up for the Miss category was Jodi Hagan.

And the winner is… Renata de Carvahlo, Miss Massachusetts United States 2014.

Newly crowned winners took their first walk. All three queens will head to Washington DC in July with delegates from every state for the Teen, Miss, and Ms. United States national competitions.

To wrap up the show, director Jena Tang had a special surprise for one audience member, Olivia Silva, pictured here with her mom and sister to her right. At two years old, Silva was diagoned with brain cancer. To help celebrate her recovery, the Miss Massachusetts United States Organization arranged to crown her Little Miss Massachusetts United States.

Newly crowned Miss Massachusetts, Renata de Carvahlo, crowned Olivia Silva, the one and only Little Miss Massachusetts United States.

Silva received a crown, sash, and gifts, including a handmade pair of shoes with her name on them decked out in pink and silver rhinestones.

To end the evening, teen rock band and Massachusetts natives, Push 4171, performed their new single, “Perfect Girl,’’ which they dedicated to Silva.
