A local television reporter is changing stations.

Jennifer Eagan is joining WCVB Channel 5 as a general assignment reporter, according to a press release from the station.

“Like so many at WCVB, Jennifer grew up, was educated, and established her distinguished career here in Massachusetts,” WCVB President and General Manager Bill Fine said in the release. “Jennifer’s outstanding reporting skills coupled with her local knowledge of the region, our newsmakers, and the stories that are important to the community, make her an ideal addition to Channel 5’s exceptional news team.”

Eagan, who graduated from Boston College, will join WCVB after more than five years at WHDH 7News as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor. Prior to that, she was a reporter and fill-in anchor at NECN.

“I am thrilled to join the NewsCenter 5 team,” Eagan said in the release. “I have always admired the range and quality of work produced by WCVB as well as their in-depth look at issues in our area. Having grown up in Wrentham, I greatly value Channel 5’s dedication to informing the people in my home state – WCVB sets the standard for news in Boston.”

Eagan will begin her new job at Channel 5 on Oct. 22.
