Labor Day may be a while away, but there’s another special holiday just around the corner.

Get your proton packs ready because National “Ghostbusters’’ Day is set to go down Thursday, Aug. 28.

The event, in celebration of the film’s 30th anniversary, will coincide with the theatrical re-release of the 1984 comedy classic. The original flick, which has been restored and remastered in the slick ultra-HD 4K format, will be shown in over 700 locations around the United States and Canada for a limited time starting on Aug. 29.

Following the film’s theatrical re-release next weekend, a 30th anniversary edition of “Ghostbusters’’ and a 25th anniversary edition of its sequel, “Ghostbusters II,’’ will be released on Blu-ray on Sept. 16.

You can watch “Ghostbusters’’ back on the big-screen right here in Boston at the AMC Loews Boston Common 19 theater, as well as, at the AMC Assembly Row 12 theater in Somerville starting Aug. 29.
