Another day, another round of awards season nominations.
Actor Anthony Mackie and actress Anna Faris announced the nominees for the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, a ceremony that honors the best movies and TV performances of the year, out in Los Angeles Wednesday morning.
As for nominees with local ties: Spotlight has two nominations, including Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, and Rachel McAdams for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role. Johnny Depp is nominated for his role as Whitey Bulger in Black Mass. Burlington’s Amy Poehler is nominated for her role in Parks and Rec. Medfield’s Uzo Aduba is nominated for her role in Orange Is the New Black. And New Hampshire’s Sarah Silverman was nominated for her role in I Smile Back.
Between SAG noms today and the Golden Globes noms, which will be announced tomorrow, hopefully the Oscars frontrunners will come into focus.
The 22nd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will air January 30, 2016 at 8 p.m. on TNT and TBS.
