Spotlight wasn’t nominated for an MTV Movie Award

Ted 2 was, though!

The MTV Movies Awards have announced their list of 2016 nominees, but Spotlight, the Academy Award-winning movie for Best Picture that’s based in Boston, is not one of them. Therefore, Boston does not care about the MTV Movie Awards.

Just kidding. MTV Movie Award nominations historically go to blockbusters and franchise films, hence the many nominations for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, Deadpool, and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

But some of this year’s noms do have local ties: Cambridge’s Matt Damon was nominated for Best Male Performance for his role in The Martian, Sudbury’s Chris Evans was nominated for Best Hero for his role in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Burlington’s Amy Poehler was nominated for Best Virtual Performance for her role in Inside Out, and Seth MacFarlane was also nominated for Best Virtual Performance for his role in Ted 2.

The 2016 MTV Movie awards air Sunday, April 10 at 8 p.m. See the list of nominees below.
