Stronger, one of the two Hollywood productions chronicling the Boston marathon bombings, has wrapped on filming.
Not to be confused with Mark Wahlberg’s Patriots Day, Stronger is the movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal as bombing survivor Jeff Bauman. The movie is based on Bauman’s autobiographical book of the same title, and will portray Bauman’s real experiences before and after the bombings in 2013.
In a photo Gyllenhaal shared on Facebook Tuesday, the actor looks to be embracing Bauman on set. In a caption, Gyllenhaal writes, “That’s a wrap on filming #StrongerMovie! It was a pleasure to work with director David Gordon Green to bring Jeff Bauman’s story to life.”
Stronger filmed around Boston and the greater Boston area throughout the spring season. Gyllenhaal recreated a powerful moment as Bauman at TD Garden back in April, and the actor and Bauman threw out the first pitch at Fenway the day of the 2016 Boston Marathon. Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) stars alongside Gyllenhaal as Bauman’s girlfriend (and now wife), Erin.
Stronger is slated to hit theaters in 2017.
