Radio 92.9 will bring its annual Earthfest back to the Hatch Shell for a 23rd year. This edition, which takes place May 21, will feature performances from Fitz and the Tantrums, Canadian alt-country group The Strumbellas, and Rochester synth-pop crew Joywave.

The annual free spring concert has brought out names in the past that include Guster, Third Eye Blind, Peter Wolf, and Sheryl Crow. Per tradition, this year’s lineup will also be rounded out by a local band chosen through Radio 92.9’s contest. Bands and artists can submit their music for consideration through April 24 on the station’s website.

Fitz and the Tantrums is an indie soul act from Los Angeles whose hits include “The Walker” and “MoneyGrabber.” It will be the band’s only Boston date this summer, and will come just before the release of their new self-titled album, which comes out on July 10.

The lawn at the Hatch Shell opens at 10 a.m. on May 21. For more information, visit the Earthfest website.
