The Daily Meal commissioned a survey of almost 200 restaurants and (and their burgers) in order to create a list of the 101 Best Burgers in America — and three Boston-area restaurants made the cut.

The first establishment to earn a spot is Cambridge’s Craigie on Main with its delectable Grass-Fed Burger (No. 43). Local chain Tasty Burger came in at 88 for its Big Tasty, and Downtown Crossing’s J.M. Curley wasn’t far behind at No. 90 for The Burger.

For those of you in Western Mass., you can be proud of West Springfield’s White Hut, which came in at No. 89 for its Cheeseburger with Fried Onions.

If you’re a burger hound and are heading to Chicago, check out Kuma’s Corner for its Kuma Burger, which tops the list. Brooklyn’s Peter Luger’s came in second with the Luger Burger, followed by New York City’s Minetta Tavern for the Black Label Burger, L.A.’s Father’s Office for The Office Burger, and Santa Fe, N.M.’s Santa Fe Bite rounds out the top 5 with the Green Chile Cheeseburger.

The final list was narrowed down from an initial group of almost 200 burgers ranging from sea to shining sea. According to a statement, the crew at the Daily Meal “combed existing best-of lists both print and online, dug through online reviews, and left no stone (bun?) unturned.’’

Then, they asked 50 journalists, writers, bloggers, and culinary authorities from certain regions to take a survey of the respective region’s local burgers, asking the surveyors to vote for the favorites (limited to ones that they had already tried).

Have a suggestion on a burger they should check out for next year’s batch? Leave it in the comments.
