A new restaurant and arcade hybrid is opening in an old Salem jail

Start saving your change: A new coin-operated arcade and restaurant is coming to Salem this June.

Popular pop-up Boston Bit Labs is opening a permanent location at the Old Salem Jail, which dates back to the early 1800s, The Salem News reported.

The restaurant, which takes the place of A&B Burgers, will have a full bar and serve “new comfort” cuisine, according to Bit Bar’s Facebook page.

While customers wait for their food or a drink, they will be able to choose between playing over 30 arcade games and pinball tables, all from the late 70s through the early 2000s, but with a focus on the ’80s and ’90s. According to the Facebook page, all the games will run the original hardware.

Games will be a quarter-per-play based, but Bit Labs told Salem News they are also considering a mobile app credit system.

Bit Labs originated out of Bit Fest — a popular brewery-based, pop-up video game festival.
