The team behind Yvonne’s, Downtown Crossing’s “modern supper club,” has plans to bring another dining experiences to the area, this time with influences from Latin and Asian cuisine.

Ruka, a contemporary Nikkei (Peruvian and Japanese) inspired eatery, is slated to open later this year in the new Godfrey Hotel in Downtown Crossing.

Yvonne’s partners Christopher Jamison, Mark Malatesta, and culinary director Tom Berry are teaming up with Ting Yen of the Oishii restaurants. Preston Miller, who previously spent four years working at Michelin-starred New York City restaurant The Breslin, is coming on as executive chef.

Ruka’s menu will integrate elements of traditional Peruvian cooking while still emphasizing the strong Japanese (nikkei) and Chinese (chifa) techniques that are prevalent in the area’s cuisine. Ruka will also have a sushi program to highlight the flavors from the South American coast.

Will Thompson, the team’s beverage director and the brains behind Yvonne’s creative cocktails, will spearhead Ruka’s drink menu, pulling inspiration from Peru and Japan.

The team developed Ruka’s decor, ambiance, beverage, and culinary programs after several exploratory trips to Peru over the past year. Ruka will be in the lobby of the Godfrey Hotel Boston at 505 Washington St.
