Three years and one Kickstarter campaign later, a buzzed-about bagel maker has opened a permanent storefront. Exodus Bagels, which first brought its New York-style eats to Boston in 2015, welcomed customers to its Jamaica Plain shop on Tuesday.

“After four months of grinding, we are finally ready to open our doors to the public and begin the long awaited feeding that we all love so much,” a Feb. 7 Facebook post from the bagel spot reads.

The post also states that the space would offer Exodus’s “full market menu with some sweets and some beverages.” (Caffeine fiends, take note: The shop will not have coffee service until a power issue is resolved, according to an update on the Kickstarter page.)

Exodus serves 13 types of bagels and seven flavors of cream cheese. Cinnamon raisin, jalapeno cheddar, and everywhere bagels can be slathered in a bacon everything, horseradish dill, or sriracha schmear. The shop also whips up sandwiches such as the “Monumental,” which comes with egg, bacon or tomato, onion jam, greens, and plain cream cheese; and the “The Cluck,” with chicken salad, spicy pepper relish, smoked gouda, and greens.

Exodus Bagels first appeared in Boston in 2015 at community events and pop-ups. In June 2016, the company purchased a permanent space in Roslindale, where it planned to house production and host a diner, deli, and shop.

Today, all Exodus food production, including for the Jamaica Plain store, takes place in the Roslindale location. The Roslindale diner, deli, and store, however, are still in the works. When Exodus Bagels announced its intentions to open a Jamaica Plain store in September, the company said the Roslindale shop plans would be put on hold because the team needed “to open a retail space as soon as possible at a site with the proper licensing to serve our customers.”

“We understand that the timeline for this is well past due,” a recent Facebook post from the company reads. “But we are a small business that had to make this pivot to survive.”
