This is not an officially sanctioned deal. Just the S.G. piecing together some affordable ways to ski and stay at Mad River Glen.
Q: Would you believe me if I told you that for $82.50 you can pull off a 2 day/1 night midweek ski getaway at Mad River Glen?
A: Well you can. Here is how…
When the alarm clock goes off.
Take the day, play hooky, do whatever need be – Go Skiing!
$3.50 = Tuesday January 27th is Mad River Glen’s – Roll Back the Clock Day. For three dollars and fifty cents, anyone can purchase a lift ticket. The deal is a celebration of the areas anniversary. This year they turn 60. Some things never change, the #1 lift on the mountain is still the Single Chair.
Mid station on the Single Chair – completely refurbished last season
$40 = Now you need a place to sleep. Forty dollars can get you just that. Give the Camel’s Hump View Farm (CHVF) a ring (802) 496-3614. This is a little different then most B&B’s. You will stay in a country farmhouse. Rooms are basic and clean. Bring a book. There is no television. No internet either. Most have a shared bath. In the morning a home cooked breakfast is part of the deal. Pay in cash. Then go back to the ski area.
S.G. Note – The CHVF is about a fifteen-minute drive (dry roads) from the ski area and it is the first structure on VT Route 100B going north. On the right – after the uphill turn left for 100N.
$39 = Now it is Wednesday morning. It should be snowing hard as you make your drive to the mountain (read – more like 23 minutes). Midweek lift tickets are always thirty-nine dollars at MRG this season. You are there. You are skiing powder. Everyone you know is working…
Total = $82.50 the real intangible will be how good the skiing is on Wednesday.
Weather Update: Look at what Josh Fox is saying. Going big, even mentioning the Saint Valentine Day storm of ’07.
The Power Move: Depart early Tuesday morning, ski MRG in the afternoon. Learn the spots you like before the snow flies. Wednesday will be top notch.
The real Power Move is to anti up another $79. Stay another night at the CHVF and Ski at Mad River Glen again on Thursday.
That is it…act now!
