This is the winter we have waited for…

Finally, a snowy New England winter. I have made my snow angels and thanked the Eastern snow gods for our frequent flurries. But I still can’t help but stare at the Western snow reports and long to be there.

Let’s see, Mammoth has received 26 feet of snow this season, and is currently skiing on a 220-inch base (that’s 18 feet of snow under your skis, my mathematically-challenged friends). Compare that to the 40-inch bases at Bretton Woods, Killington, and Okemo.

It has been dumping fluffy feet of snow out West all winter. Resorts like Alta and Snowbird, Heavenly, Alpine and Squaw are all skiing on over 100 inches of snow and it keeps coming.
I am not just looking, I am booking out West. No need to hang out waiting for the Super Bowl when you can go for the super snow on some last-minute deal.

Regardless of whether you head for the Rockies, the Sierra Nevada’, or drive to your favorite New England resort, this is the season to ski. The wait for a real winter is over, snow is blanketing most of our country. I suggest you follow the powder trail.
