Ski Magazine‘s annual “Top 50 Resorts” issue is always controversial among skiers and riders who tend to defend their own stomping grounds to the fullest, but it’s hard to argue with the decision to award Whistler-Blackcomb the top spot in North America.
“All great Whistler experiences somehow feel like the best Whistler experiences to be having at that moment, and that’s the key to this resort’s success,” writes Susan Reifer Ryan.
Whistler took the No. 1 ranking from No. 2 Deer Valley, which spent a half-decade in the top slot, however, the same leap-frogging did not happen in Ski’s Top 10 Eastern resorts, where Quebec’s Mont Tremblant held onto its top spot, which probably means we really, really should get there someday.
Here’s how the rest of the list shakes out. A lot to debate, for sure.
2. Sunday River
3. Smuggler’s Notch
6. Holiday Valley
10. Jay Peak
