No disrespect to Marquette, Mich., but seriously?
Powder Magazine is set to launch a nifty (and familiar) tool Monday asking readers to vote for their favorite ski towns in America, pitting classic destinations such as Telluride, Steamboat Springs, Stowe, and…ahem, Marquette against each other in a bracket tournament. Still, something’s missing, and by something, we mainly mean the entire state of New Hampshire, which was shut out of competition despite possessing the classic ski towns of North Conway and Lincoln.
The folks at Powder told us Thursday that North Conway was ranked ninth in the East, and just out of the running for its region, where eight towns made the bracket (Stowe and Jay are the highest-ranked East competitors, each with a seven seed). But again, Marquette.
So, it’s up to you to show Powder whether or not they made the right choices. Here are 10 of the most visited ski towns in New England. Rank them based on whatever factors you deem important in a ski town as a destination, be it nightlife, dining, shopping, spas, or, oh yeah, skiing. Sorry, no write-in space for Marquette.
