December lift ticket deals are aplenty

Bolton Valley’s Santa Sunday

From Skiing Santas at Bolton Valley, to birthday celebrations at Mount Snow and Bretton Woods, here are some lift ticket deals you find this month before the holiday period kicks in.

– Mount Snow Resort will celebrate “Founder’s Day” on Dec. 12 with $12 tickets. The tickets must be purchased in advance, by Dec. 10, and there are limited quantities. Visit their website for purchasing information.

– Meanwhile, Bretton Woods will celebrate its 40th birthday on Dec. 14 with $40 lift tickets and a number of events throughout the day including complimentary hors d’oeuvre. Dress up in your favorite 70’s attire for a chance to win prizes.

– Frequent use cards can be a mixed bag, but Sugarbush Mountain Resort’s SugarDirect Card is $99 and it includes one free lift ticket, free skiing/riding on your 11th day, 25 percent off midweek and 20 percent off holiday/weekend tickets, 15 percent off midweek resort lodging, and 10 percent off at Timbers Restaurant and ski/board rentals. It’s only on sale through Dec. 18.

– Magic Mountain is opening next weekend, and the ski area has a limited amount of one-day lift tickets available in its online store for $37.99. Magic will also run the lifts on Thursdays this season, and will offer “$15 Throwback Thursdays,” an ode to the lift ticket pricing of the 70’s and 80’s. (The deal isn’t applicable on holidays of Magic “powder” days, when the mountain sees six inches of new snow.)

– Get three transferable day tickets good any time at Mad River Glen for $144. The “Mad Card” also gives you $5 off any other day throughout the season. On sale until Dec. 15.

– Sunday River reached its maximum 250 entrants for its annual Skiing Sunday, but you still have a chance to don your Ol’ Saint Nick duds and head to Bolton Valley, which will hosts its own day of free skiing for those who arrive fully-clad in a Santa suit. Also, through Dec. 15, skiers and riders can purchase $25 lift tickets online, good through Dec. 25.

– It wasn’t an opportune time for the Patriots defense to fall apart against Houston last Sunday, allowing 31 points to the two-win Texans, but you can only hope it improves in time for Waterville Valley’s Patriots Tuesdays, when lift tickets will cost the amount of points the New England defense allows the previous Sunday. The deal will be good as long as the team is in the playoffs, but isn’t valid on Dec. 31.

– Bring four cans of non-perishable food items to Cannon Mountain on Saturday, and ski for 50 percent off the lift ticket price as part of the ski area’s Ski for Hunger Food Drive.
