Boston’s art, sports, food, and historic sites make it one of the best big cities in America, say Conde Nast Traveler readers.

Boston ranked No. 5 out of 15 in a list of the the best big cities in the U.S., according to CNT’30th Annual Readers’ Choice Awards. Chicago ranked No. 1.

“As one of the oldest cities in the U.S., Boston has aged with style,” wrote the travel publication.

CNT lauded Boston’s 2 1/2 miles of historic sites along the Freedom Trail, “eclectic salon-style art” at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, baseball games at Fenway Park (complete with “Sweet Caroline” sing-alongs), and oysters — specifically Neptune’s.

Editors compiled the readers’ choice lists based on the results of an online survey available to CNT readers between April 1 and July 1, 2017. The survey contained more than 30,000 listings of hotels, resorts, islands, airports, cities, and cruise ships. More than 300,000 readers submitted millions of ratings and more than 100,000 comments, according to the publication.
