A New England city that draws large crowds in the summer months was named one of the best small cities in America by Conde Nast Traveler readers.
The travel magazine called Newport one of the Northeast’s most popular summer destinations, with a population that “swells” in the summertime, and offered the following tips for travelers looking to avoid the crowds: “Walk along Sachuest Point instead of the busier Cliff Walk; head to the Vanderbilt Roof Deck for sunset drinks; and make sure to reserve meals (even on Sundays) at farm-to-table spots like the oh-so-good Castle Hill.”
Editors compiled the readers’ choice lists based on the results of an online survey available to CNT readers between April 1 and July 1, 2017. The survey contained more than 30,000 listings of hotels, resorts, islands, airports, cities, and cruise ships. More than 300,000 readers submitted millions of ratings and more than 100,000 comments, according to the publication.
