Boston’s restaurants, attractions, and rich history have impressed Travel + Leisure magazine readers — so much so that they’ve declared Boston one of the 15 best cities in America.

As part of the magazine’s annual World’s Best Awards, the publication released its list of the top 15 cities in America earlier this month, and Boston ranked No. 14 on the list. The top spot went to Charleston, South Carolina.

Of the country’s top 15 cities, editors wrote, “They seduce us with their charisma and friendliness. They endeavor to preserve their rich histories. They offer restful green spaces, a wealth of cultural institutions, and innovative restaurants that aim to satisfy the most adventurous palates.”

The 2018 World’s Best travel survey was available to readers at tlworldsbest.com from Nov. 6, 2017 to March 5, 2018. Participants scored cities based on their sights and landmarks, culture, food, friendliness, shopping, and overall value. A numerical score was determined based on those ratings, and T+L tabulated the results with research firm M&RR.

Readers also rated airlines, airports, car rental agencies, cruise ships, destination spas, islands, hotel brands, hotels, tour operators, and safari outfitters. You can view the full list of top cities in the United States and other ratings on travelandleisure.com.
