A luxury boutique hotel in historic Beacon Hill ranked among the 15 best city stays in the continental United States, according to Travel + Leisure magazine readers. The publication released the list as part of the publication’s annual World’s Best Awards.
The only New England hotel on the list, Boston’s XV Beacon came in at No. 14. (The Lowell in New York City earned the No. 1 spot.) XV Beacon offers 63 rooms, each curated with art specifically commissioned for the hotel. The rooms have gas fireplaces, cashmere throws, and white Italian marble bathrooms. At Mooo, the hotel’s steakhouse, guests can eat in an exclusive private dining room called The Wine Cellar. When guests want to leave the hotel, they have access to an in-town Lexus service.
“To stand out in a crowd, a superior city hotel should have a prime location in a prime neighborhood, or a clubby bar that draws both locals and guests (an especially hard trick to pull off),” T+L editors wrote about why the respective city hotels made the list. “Or how about stylish rooms that serve as tranquil oases from the hum of urban life?”
The 2018 World’s Best travel survey was available to readers at tlworldsbest.com from Nov. 6, 2017 to March 5, 2018. Participants scored hotels based on their rooms and facilities, location, service, food, and overall value. A numerical score was determined based on those ratings, and T+L tabulated the results with research firm M&RR.
