Russell Crowe performs amazing Johnny Cash cover on ‘Fallon’

Russell Crowe was another Hollywood A-lister that was being thrown around during the early casting rumor discussions. Like Pitt, Bale, and Brolin, Crowe’s involvement with the series is likely just conjecture. However, the actor is set to star in a detective drama opposite Ryan Gosling called “The Nice Guys,’’ which is being helmed by director Shane Black.

We knew Russell Crowe could sing after his performance as Javert in 2012’s “Les Misérables,’’ but his Johnny Cash cover on Thursday’s episode of “The Tonight Show’’ really showcased the actor’s musical chops.

Joined by host Jimmy Fallon on the harmonica, Crowe belted out a fine rendition of Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues’’ while shaking his hips Elvis Presley style.

Crowe’s ability to rock out should come as no surprise to fans as he was once the lead vocals and guitarist for the Australian band 30 Odd Foot of Grunts back in the 1980s.

Check out the “Noah’’ star’s seemingly impromptu performance in the video above.
