Just when we thought Fridays couldn’t get any better, word surfaced that Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch are in talks to star in season 2 of “True Detective.’’

According to Deadline, Farrell is “deep in negotiations’’ with the folks at HBO regarding a starring role. Kitsch, on the other hand, is the “leading candidate for the younger male lead,’’ per TheWrap.

HBO didn’t comment on either rumor, but a rep for the network told TheWrap, “there is no news to confirm on the casting.’’

So you’re saying there’s a chance? We’ll work with that.

The Farrell casting is even listed on IMDB as a “rumored’’ part of the show, which is saying more than was said for other potential castees (i.e. Jessica Chastain).

Farrell’s most recent project, “Winter’s Tale’’ (2014) drummed up just over $8 million in its first weekend.

Kitsch, well-known for his role in the TV series “Friday Night Lights,’’ played Michael Murphy in last year’s war biopic “Lone Survivor’’ with Mark Wahlberg. He was also involved in this year’s Emmy-nominated TV film, “The Normal Heart,’’ which is up for eight awards at the August show.

“True Detective’’ season 1 stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson were both nominated for Emmys yesterday — in the same category (Lead Actor, Drama). The show itself was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series.

We’ll keep you updated if we hear an official confirmation.
