Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black just got renewed for season 5—and 6 and 7

The show stars Medfield’s own Uzo Aduba.

Orange Is the New Black’s award-winning cast will grace your Netflix screens for three more seasons.

The Netflix original series about the ladies of Litchfield, based on a book of the same name, stars Medfield’s own Uzo Aduba as inmate Suzanne “Crazy Eyes’’ Warren.

Aduba recently won a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for that role (she won the same award last year). She’s also won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series and a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her performance..

Orange Is the New Black’s Season 4 is set to debut June 17. Show creator Jenji Kohan will continue to steer the series through seasons 5, 6, and 7.

“Three more years! Not quite a political term, but still plenty of time to do some interesting things. In some cultures, ‘May you lead an interesting life,’ is a curse, but I don’t live in those cultures,’’ Kohan said in a statement. “Here’s to keeping it interesting. Thanks, Netflix! Both thanks and you’re welcome Lionsgate! And kudos and gratitude to the stellar cast and crew and writers and producers and editors and musicians and mixers and shleppers … with whom I have the pride and honor of crafting this show. Three more years! Three more years!’’
