Matt LeBlanc, Newton native and former star of Friends, just signed on to star in and produce a new CBS comedy, which — *side glance* — is called I’m Not Your Friend. The irony!

This is actually a huge deal for LeBlanc, as this show would be his first broadcast project since playing Joey Tribbiani on the Friends spinoff, Joey, which went off the air in 2006. According to Deadline, LeBlanc will star “as a contractor who learns that raising his kids is more challenging than expected when his wife goes back to work.’’

If I’m Not Your Friend gets a full series pickup, LeBlack will have to juggle it and his other brand new commitment on the other side of the Atlantic: BBC2’s Top Gear. He just signed on to co-host the popular car show last week. On top of that, LeBlanc’s Showtime series, Episodes, also filmed in the U.K., is still on the air, but rounding out what looks to be its last season.
